Privacy Policy

This website is run by Angtel Botswana (Pty) Ltd, Phakalane, Gaborone, Botswana (“Angtel”, “we”, “us”). It covers our property listings (Angtel Properties), our business development consultancy (Angtel Business Development, led by Oujan Brand) and our agency partnerships. Angtel is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

When you browse the site. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and you do not need an account to use the site. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically records technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and keep it secure. Our business consultancy page also shows a map from Google Maps and a photo served by Unsplash; when that page loads, your browser connects to Google and Unsplash, which receive your IP address and browser details.

When you contact us. The site does not store the messages you send us. Enquiry buttons, the property enquiry form and the free Business Growth Audit form open WhatsApp, your phone or your email app with a pre-filled message. Nothing reaches us until you send it from that app, and we only receive what you choose to send, such as your name, email address, phone number, business name and the details of your enquiry.

Property listings. Listings contain property details and photos supplied by property owners and our agents. We publish them on this site and on our Facebook Page. Photos are processed when uploaded: large photos are resized, and embedded camera data such as location tags is removed.

Staff accounts.For our own staff who manage listings we store an email address, a securely hashed password and a log of changes made (for example “property added”), so we know who changed what.

Visitors get no cookies from us. The only cookie the site sets is a strictly necessary login cookie for staff who sign in to the admin area. It keeps them signed in for up to 7 days and is removed when they sign out. The Google Maps map on our business consultancy page may set Google's own cookies; see the Google Privacy Policy.

When we add a property, the website publishes it to Angtel's own Facebook Page using Meta's official API, and keeps that post up to date (for example marking it sold). When the listing is removed we remove the post, or hide it if Facebook does not allow it to be deleted. This connection only acts on our Page. It does not use Facebook Login, and it does not collect information about Facebook users or visitors to our website.

If you like, comment on or share our posts on Facebook, or message us on WhatsApp, that activity takes place on Meta's platforms and is covered by the Meta Privacy Policy. We see what you post or send us there, as any Page owner or WhatsApp contact would.

• To answer your enquiries and arrange viewings, consultations and services.
• To advertise properties on this site and on our Facebook Page.
• To run, maintain and secure the website and our staff accounts.
• To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated decision-making.

We share your information only where needed to deal with your enquiry or to run the site: with the property owner, landlord or agent for a listing you ask about (for example to arrange a viewing or prepare a sale or lease agreement), with the partner company concerned if you ask about one of our agency partners, and with the service providers that run the site and our communications for us:

• Vercel, which hosts the website and stores listing photos.
• Neon, which hosts our database.
• Meta Platforms, for our Facebook Page and WhatsApp.
• Google, which hosts our business email and provides the map on our business consultancy page.
• Unsplash, which serves a stock photo on our business consultancy page.

These providers may store data outside Botswana, for example in the United States or the European Union. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

We keep enquiry messages for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and our business relationship with you. Listings, their photos and their Facebook posts are kept until the listing is removed. Staff accounts are kept until they are closed; the change log, which records the staff member's email address against each change, is kept as a permanent record. Hosting logs are kept for a limited period by our hosting provider.

Under Botswana's Data Protection Act you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, unless the law requires us to keep or use it. Email oujan@angtelbotswana.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can also complain to Botswana's Information and Data Protection Commission.

To ask us to delete personal information we hold about you:

1. Email oujan@angtelbotswana.com with the subject “Data deletion request”.
2. Tell us how you contacted us (WhatsApp, phone or email) and the number or address you used, or which listing or Facebook post the request is about.
3. Within 30 days we delete the information and confirm to you what was deleted. Where that applies, this includes removing the related listing and taking its post off our Facebook Page (we delete the post, or hide it if Facebook does not allow deletion). If the law or a signed agreement requires us to keep some information, such as records of a sale or lease, we keep only that and tell you what we kept and why.

Our website does not use Facebook Login and does not store any data about you from Facebook, so there is nothing to remove from our systems in connection with your Facebook account. Comments or messages you left on Facebook or WhatsApp can be deleted by you there, or you can ask us to remove comments on our Page.

The site is served over HTTPS, staff passwords are stored hashed, the admin area requires a login, and listing photos are kept in private storage served through our own website.

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
